Concordia College – St John’s Campus
HIGHGATE, SA
With a tight program centred around all demolition and asbestos removal works happening over the Christmas break, this project involved the construction of a very large central courtyard canopy structure with associated paving, services and infrastructure works. The works also included some new build and refurbishment of surrounding functional areas in a new student toilet block, storerooms and façade upgrade to existing classrooms. This also included new sliding doors and an opening leading out to the new large curved concrete formed steps and landing areas which were all constructed by TSDB.
TSDB undertook works to the school whilst it was an operating school environment. This meant a high level of safety and organisation to ensure works could run smoothly and there were minimal interruptions to the school.
The new canopy structure to the courtyard is made from structural steel with a polycarbonate glazing system, featuring coloured infill panels. This cladding system is the first of its kind to be utilized in this construction technique in Australia and provides an engaging outdoor learning and play area for the students.
